Samadhi Lyrics: -------- With his back to the wind, Samadhi lunges-- Unleashing pent-up kendo cuts into bewildered denizens; Cursed and reviled, he trudges on; a roaming, ronin warrior. Bamboo stalks, splattered by, the blood of innocents, Marks as damned, this masterless man, Everywhere he treads. Drunk on the rush Of unbridled, merciless fury, Sorrow fills him--realizing his departure from the middle path. Avolokiteshvara appears before the samurai, and this is what he says, "Samadhi, you have killed so needlessly, And your honour is tarnished; Before you can reclaim what was lost-- To the marshlands of past heedless actions-- You must retrieve for me The Lotus of Clear Apprehension, From the Emperor's garden." With a flash of smoke, The warrior now finds himself, In contemplation. Atop the majestic, glacial cliffs. Days of struggle, frost-bitten hands, purges the heat from his restless heart. The cool steel of his katana--now unsheathed, Sings the shimmering melodies, Of a long lineage of noble families. The Dark Emperor is stirred from his reveries-- Therein, devised novel ways of torment and torture. Far shouts from below, as the guards take position at sight of Samadhi Who roots his stance in defiance, as still as stone. "Come hither", Laughs the Emperor on high, "So that I can smell the fear you're emitting." The swarm of arrows plummets from the sky-- impaling on the way, a flock of cranes in mid-ascension; Samadhi keeps in trance. With rapid, blade movements, He turns the shafts into dust. "Prepare to crumble for such hubris!", the Emperor screams, "I'm coming down, myself, to match your exemplary skills." In the courtyard, Samadhi, reaches out to touch the glimmering petals of his goal, ("I'm coming down") "On your shadow's side, Samurai; Consider seppuku, A fate more honourable than what's to befall you." Sheaths shed, cocoon metamorphosis-- Embodying every warrior's doom. Steel flurries snowing shards of smoldering embers. The blooming talisman speaks; With its perfume grants Samadhi with the insight, To cool his anger in one fell swoop, And funnel his nemesis forward. Samadhi kneels before the talisman, and the emperor flails, As his misstep guides him, into the lake with his captive. The lotus's roots pull him under; to assimilate into its pure being. Avolokiteshvara appears before the samurai, And this is what he says, "Samadhi now you finally see, the true projections of your mind. Now step into the clearing, Sotapanna, The anger you once cherished, a line dragging you out to sea, Evaporates like the morning dew."
